While on vacation in Newport RI with my family, I learned a few lessons worth bringing home and sharing with friends.
1. Overheard in a candy store between two women: Why does eating 1 lb of candy make you gain 5 lbs? Good question!
2. Always travel with an EZ PASS for tolls. We whizzed through dozens of toll booths along the way and saved at least an hour or two in travel time. One of the best investments we’ve made.
3. When eating at an Irish Pub, make sure you order an Irish dish. I got corned beef and cabbage and Irish French fries. It was great and I hadn’t had this dish for years. Ordering anything else just isn’t right. They don’t know what they are missing.
4. Make sure the church schedule is the summertime hour of worship before leaving the condo. Although the local church directory says 10:30 you may want to check online to see if there are summer hours. Missing not only the Presbyterian church that had a summer 9:30 hour we also missed the Methodist, Congregational, and even the Unitarian/Universalist churches worship as they all changed to 10am. Does a good attempt count for anything? We walked the who town looking for a 10:30 or 11:00 worship. No luck.
5. And when the full ketchup bottle will not pour, turn the bottle so the 57 is facing up and tap the 57 with the heal of your palm. It works!!!!! We gave the waitress who showed us this vacation lesson a nice tip.
Hope you learn a few lessons on your vacation this summertime.
