Our sanctuary burned down in April, we need ideas to rebuild.

in April our sanctuary was hit by lightning, we have about 40 active members and a part time non Presbyterian pastor. We are a very active church, hosting Katrina volunteer work groups, a food bank, pre-school, reading tutoring program, meeting place for scouting and civic groups, and host for a local youth theater group, to name a few activities. Of course we were under insured but will be receiving insurance funds to rebuild. We need ideas on how to engage the community to become involved in our rebuilding effort. We need to grow Christ's Church- Deep & Wide.

Loretta,

i can't help but know who might be able to...

Second Presbyterian in Nashville, TN, underwent a large & successful community campaign to rebuild a few years ago after a fire. they're larger than you, but the principles would remain. The Rev. Jim Kitchens is the pastor there, and he is a gracious and wise man who, i'm sure, would be willing to talk to you. for more info, their website is: www.secondpresbyterian.net

may the Lord be with you!

Loretta,

The congregation in Pilot Rock, OR is fairly small with a Commissioned Lay Pastor. Their sanctuary burned down November 2007. I'm not sure where they are in the rebuilding process...I wish I was better informed since I live only 20 miles away in Pendleton, OR. It would be neat if you could talk with them and share ideas. If you want me to find contact information, let me know.

Peace,
Jon Mittelstadt
Elder
